Cajun dance and old-time string band music will be highlighted this evening in Honokaa.
Cajun Country Revival, on its first tour in Hawaii, will take the stage at Honokaa People’s Theatre for an evening of traditional American roots music.
Louisiana Cajun musicians Joel and Kelli Savoy join Sammy Lind and Nadine Landry of the Foghorn Stringband. Together this group presents a music that seems to embody all of the things that make life wonderful and they’ve delighted audiences around the world celebrating rather than “performing” the music that brought them together. They will be joined by special guests Matt Morelock, on banjo, and Honokaa’s own Na Mele Old Hawaii.
The evening opens at 5:30 p.m. with Cajun dancing lessons scheduled 6 p.m. The Oldtime Stringband takes the stage at 7 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Na Mele Old Hawaii will perform. At 9 p.m. there will be Cajun music and dancing. Dance lessons at 6 p.m. are included with ticket purchase.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
